Angus was born in Mulgrave on December 21, 1892, the 6th child of Joe Laforce (1859-1923) and Susan French (1864-1950). His paternal grandparents, Paul (Tehanekorens) Laforce and Susan (Okini8asanok8e) Story are buried in the historic Mulgrave Baptist cemetery.

In 1912 Angus married Dora Clemenhagen (1890-1971), daughter of Albert Clemenhagen (1850-1944) and Charlotte Hannah Berndt (1853-1910) of Mulgrave. Angus and Dora had three children, John, Susan and Carson, when he signed up in Buckingham to join the Canadian Expeditionary Force on November 6, 1915. His record describes him as 5’ 8 ½”tall.

Killed in action in France, Battle of the Somme, between October 21st and 23rd, 1916. He was 24 years old. The Circumstances of Death registers for WWI personnel at the National Archives of Canada note he was “killed in action October 21-22, 1916 while his Unit was in the Regina Trench at Courcellete. His remains were exhumed from 1 mile west of Le Sars, 4 ¾ miles south west of Bapaume”.

Pte. Angus Laforce is buried in the Adanac Military Cemetery, Somme, France
